Appagare, Inc. is a small, family owned fabrication shop.
Our adult twin sons have a form of Autism called Asperger Syndrome.
Although individuals with Asperger Syndrome exhibit normal cognitive development, intelligence, and language skills, social interaction with others
is sometimes difficult.
With the twins' disability, combined with the state of the economy during the Great Recession, entering the traditional job market was an extra challenge for them.
Although we had founded a software development company and online shopping cart service more
than 10 years ago, our twins were more interested in the outdoors and environment than software technology and ecommerce.
To supplement their regular volunteer work at the Point Defiance Zoo, we began building small
portable barbecues as gifts for family and friends. In 2011 we officially established Appagare, Inc. as a vehicle for the twins to
create their own employment opportunities.
All of the fabrication, assembly and shipping of our barbecue products occur at our shop with the twins assisting in many capacities. The results of their hard work are
the American made products that we offer on this site.
